Shelby Harris

Shelby is a proud graduate of Hampton University and a dedicated member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. With an impressive 15 years of service as a Federal employee, she currently serves as the Budget Director for the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, where her expertise and leadership make a lasting impact.

Originally from North Carolina, Shelby carries her southern charm with her wherever she goes — even now, living in the Washington, DC metro area. Her adventurous spirit has taken her to 18 countries across 4 continents, and she’s always looking forward to her next journey.

Beyond her professional achievements, Shelby is deeply passionate about mental health, wellness, and self-care, particularly within the African American community. She’s committed to spreading light, positivity, and encouragement — bringing a little sunshine to every room she enters.
